Daniel T's Thoughts

Here is my thoughts on carnivorous plants. I've ordered them from favorite to least favorite. Please note that all these plants are beautiful, and don't take my opinion to heart and not order something like a Nepenthes, because it's all personal preference! If I've forgotten a plant, let me know in the Contact Us section.

Venus Fly Trap

The Venus Fly Trap, the most well-known CP and also my favorite! This species has many variations, and therefore never gets old! This plant is truly awesome!

Heliamphora (Sun Pitcher Plant)

Heliamphora is truly an amazing plant! These plants look great with their "Nectar Spoons" and unique shaped pitchers, this is a must-have in your collection! My personal favorite is Heliamphora Minor!

Cephalotus (Australian Pitcher Plant)

The Australian Pitcher Plant is a true beauty! This plant produces plump giants that appear to be grumpily awaiting their prey. Definitely worth buying if you can get your hands on one!

Sarracenia (North American Pitcher Plant)

The North American Pitcher Plant is a temperate beauty. With it's thin, tall, tubelike pitchers, this plant is a must-have for any CP grower! These guys are very cool, and you should get one today! My favorite is Sarracenia Leucophylla, but they all are amazing!

Pinguicula (The Butterwort)

Pinguiculas have sticky leaves that catch bugs upon impact. Some look like beautiful flowers, but as soon as the bug makes contact it knows that it was wrong. My favorite is Sethos. Beautiful plant!

Drosera (Sundew)

These dewy plants, the Sundew is a sticky wonder! This plant perhaps has the largest variation of plants. They range from easy to grow Capensis to the challenging and rare Solaris (My Favorite). These plants are fun to watch, and are awaiting your collection!

Byblis (Rainbow Plant)

The Rainbow Plant is a true beauty, and this annual is a very interesting plant! From germination to adult, this plant lasts about a year, and seeds are very interesting to grow. At DCP, we hope to sell seeds in the near future, but plants will not be available. This is a wonderful plant, and my favorite is Byblis Liniflora.

Darlingtonia (Cobra Plant)

The Cobra Plant is very fun to grow. Another Pitcher plant, this one looks like a Cobra (snake) and almost seems to "Stalk it's prey!" This plant and seeds will someday be available to DCP customers!

Nepenthes (Tropical Pitcher Plant)

The Nepenthes will probably not be available in DCP due to it's picky climate restrictions, and the fact it is such a slow grower. Some people love these, others don't. Mainly a preference thing.
